Ancient Near East & Europe, Byzantine Empire to Post-Medieval era, ca. 600–1800 CE. Three bronze and brass crosses; two from the Byzantine to early medieval era. The largest is a cast bronze reliquary cross (encolpion) formed of two hinged halves, with a suspension loop, latched base, and incised Greek inscriptions. The mid-sized cross is decorated with concentric circle motifs and retains double-pronged pins on the reverse for attachment. The smallest is cast brass with a suspension loop; XRF analysis shows a high-tin bronze in the two larger crosses, while the zinc content of the smallest suggests a later, likely 19th century, date. Size of largest: 2.2" L x 1.5" W (5.6 cm L x 3.8 cm W).

Provenance: private Marysville, Washington, USA collection; ex-private Seattle, Washington, USA collection, acquired 1970-2000 via US and online auctions
