Thomas Tod Stoddart (1810–1880) Scottish angler and poet. An early passion for angling became the main business of his life. He investigated the haunts and habits of fish, and was an adept of fly-making. He campaigned against the pollution of rivers. In the decade leading up to the Rivers Pollution Prevention Act 1876 he was involved with the Tweed Commissioners, and was involved in the trials and surveys of the fish population of the River Tweed using smolt. With expertise in fly fishing, Stoddart published books, poems and articles on angling. Offered here is a ALS, June 17 [no yr], 1p, 4-3/8 x 7 in. VG.
