Left slide marked "Patented/APR. 20, 1897, Sept. 9, 1902, Dec. 19, 1905", "Colt's Pt. F.A. Mfg Co. Hartford, CT U.S.A." Circle horse to rear. Right slide marked "Automatic Colt/Calibre 45 Rimless Smokeless". Unmarked orig mag. Grips with brass reinforcing inserts around screws. Fire blued extractor and wedge. PROVENANCE: The Frank H. Wheaton, III Collection. CONDITION: Verdigris apparent around grip screw bushings. Light finish deterioration front of left slide. Right side of slide shows scattered spotting, some of which may be dried grease. Top of slide shows minor deterioration. Receiver has small amount of pitting on lower rear edge, slight amount of finish missing from rear grip strap. Spot of minor pitting on left receiver muzzle. Fire blue on trigger near excellent. Front and rear grip straps near excellent. Quite a bit of dried grease on hidden areas which may cover something. Small amount of spotting above left grip. Orig mag in near excellent condition. Near excellent bore. Grips are near excellent except for verdigris around bushings. Front and rear sights in near excellent orig condition. Small amount of peening around firing pin hole rear of slide. Overall a superb looking all orig 1905 Commercial. 51516-14 KXK C&R
