Springfield Type III U.S. Model 1816 Flintlock Musket The Model 1816 muskets were primarily used in conflicts with various Native American groups after the War of 1812. They were also used into the Mexican-American War era and the Civil War, generally after being converted to percussion. Cartouche visible on left stock flat and top rear buttstock. It has the standard markings and features and is dated "1833" on the barrel tang and lock.
