Spencer Model 1865 Repeating Carbine This carbine is one of 23,000 estimated to have been manufactured in 1865 and 1866. Around half of these carbines were equipped with the Stabler cut-off device like this example. It has the standard manufacturer markings and features and lacks visible government inspection markings. Many of these Spencers were used during the Indian Wars. Manufacturer: Spencer Model: 1865 BBL: 20 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 50 Spencer Finish: blue/casehardened Grips: Serial Number: 8186 Class: Antique Condition: Fair. The carbine has dark brown patina overall along with oxidation and moderate pitting. There are filing marks on both sides of the barrel at the breech. The wood is good with faint cartouches, scratches, and some small chips at the edges. Mechanically fine and has mostly crisp markings.
