Documented Extremely Rare Special Order Extra Heavy Barrel Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action with Factory Letter The factory letter confirms the serial number was applied on November 16, 1888, and the rifle was received and shipped on November 26 in order 15447 with a .40-82 extra heavy octagon barrel and set trigger. It has a standard sporting style front sight with nickel-silver blade and buckhorn sporting style rear sight with serrated edges. The receiver has a single set trigger, and the upper tang is factory drilled and tapped. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address and "40-82 W.C.F." The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped "- MODEL 1886-". The 1884 and 1885 patent dates are roll-stamped on the bottom of the receiver in two lines behind the trigger, and the serial number is stamped in script numerals between the tang screws. Very few extra heavy barrels were ordered on Winchester Model 1886 rifles. Model 1886 rifles with special order extra heavy barrels are extremely rare.
