Documented and Exceptional Special Order Antique Winchester Deluxe Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle with Factory Letter This deluxe Winchester Model 1894 rifle features several special order features to include the half octagon barrel, half magazine tube, matted barrel, takedown, double set triggers, sling swivel eyes and shotgun butt. This rifle has most of the special features one can find on the Model 1894. Just having one of these features makes it out of the ordinary. The upper left barrel flat ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two-line address/patent date, and the left rear upper flat is marked with the two-line nickel steel/smokeless powder marking followed by "30 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang marking is covered by a short-range peep sight. The serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. The rifle is fitted with dovetailed beaded blade front and three leaf rear express sights. There are non-factory installed scope mounting bases dovetailed into the top flat 1 1/2 inches ahead of the rear sight and directly behind the rear sight. Casehardened hammer and lever and the remaining surfaces are blue. Mounted with a highly figured checkered walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a sling stud mounted on the steel end cap, smooth shotgun buttplate and sling stud on the stock toe. The accompanying factory letter verifies the takedown rifle configuration, caliber, 1/2 octagon matted barrel, set trigger, checkered stock, 1/2 magazine, shotgun butt and "screw-eyes", and that it was received in the warehouse on March 14, 1901 and shipped to order number 6115 on March 19, 1901. The serial number places it as an antique manufactured in 1897. Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 1894 BBL: 26 inch part octagon Stock: walnut Gauge: 30 WCF Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: 87010 Class: Antique Condition: Excellent. The rifle retains 97% original blue finish with some minor muzzle and edge wear, some minor flaking on the takedown ring and receiver, and a few minor scratches on the receiver. The lever retains 98% original bright case colors with a small amount of smooth gray present. The wood is also excellent with some scattered minor dings and dents, and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The set trigger functions well and the action is excellent. A very nice turn of the century Model 1894 with loads of documented special order features.
