Very Attractive Nickel Plated Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector First Model "Triple Lock" Double Action Revolver with Spectacular Double Carved Steer Head Pearl Grips and Factory Letter The iconic Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector First Model "Triple Lock" was introduced in 1908 and manufactured until 1915, and sales continued until 1917. Total production is listed as 15,376. It was the first of the hand ejectors designed for .44 S&W Special ammunition and featured the distinctive third lock for the yoke which was discontinued on the .44 Hand Ejector Second Model revolvers as it was found to be unnecessary. The included factory letter lists this revolver as a .44 Hand Ejector First Model "Triple Lock" in .44 S&W Special with a 4 inch barrel, nickel finish, service sights, and checkered diamond walnut grips with gold Smith & Wesson medallions in a large order of .44 Hand Ejectors of mixed finishes and barrel lengths. It was shipped to Cowdrey Company in New York City on January 12, 1916. Cowdrey is noted as also exporting arms to the South American market. The revolver features fixed rounded blade front and top-strap notch rear "service sights" and standard markings, including the matching full serial number on the barrel, crane, cylinder, ejector, and butt. It is fitted with a pair of pearl grips with a steer head carved on each panel and red gem inserts for the eyes on the right.
