Smith & Wesson First Model .44 Double Action Revolver All frames of the First Model 44 Double Action revolver were manufactured between 1881 and 1898. They were listed in the company catalogs and sold up until 1913. It has the two-line address/patent dates on the barrel rib and matching serial number on the butt, cylinder, barrel latch and barrel. Provenance: Gillespie collection. Manufacturer: Smith & Wesson Model: 44 Double Action BBL: 6 inch solid rib Stock: Gauge: 44 S&W Russian Finish: blue Grips: antique ivory Serial Number: 30996 Class: Antique Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 85% bright original high polish blue finish with thinning to a brown on the balance. Original case colors remain in the protected areas on the hammer and trigger. The slightly oversize grips are very good with a repaired chip near the bottom (left panel) and a few minor dings. Mechanically excellent.
