American, First quarter 19th Century. "THE JOURNAL OF A TOUR INTO THE TERRITORY NORTHWEST OF THE ALLEGHENY MOUNTAINS, MADE IN THE SPRING OF THE YEAR 1803' by Thaddeus Mason Harris, Manning & Loring, Boston, Massachusetts, 1805, leather and cloth bound with maps, 271 pages. "TRAVEL AND ADVENTURES IN CANADA" by Alexander Henry, Esq, L. Riley Publisher, New York, 1809, leather and cloth bound, 330 pages. "TRAVELS IN THE INTERIOR OF AMERICA IN THE YEARS 1809, 1810, and 1811" by John Bradbury, Smith and Galway, London, England, 1817, 364 pages. "A TOUR FROM THE CITY OF NEW YORK TO DETROIT," by William Darby, Kirk and Mercein, New York, 1819, with maps, 228 pages plus addenda and index. And "NARRATIVE OF AN EXPEDITION TO THE SOURCE OF THE ST. PETER'S RIVER," 2 vols. by William H. Keating, George B. Whittaker, London, England, 1825, vol 1 is 458 pages and vol 2 is 156 pages .

  • Condition: All with toning and foxing throughout. The Henry volumes are bound in one book, covering the years 1760-1776: original volumes were split by 1760-1764 (vol. 1) and 1765-1776 (vol. 2). All have original covers. Darby's Tour has heavy wear to binding and other books have varied wear to binding; some of the pages have not been cut/separated at top. (BH 7.20.26) Bradbury book's cover is present but has come off; there are no maps in this book. Darby book has frontispiece map, Lake Erie map, and two of the same maps of Detroit and Lake Erie by page 183. Keating (vol.1) has a folding "Map of the Country." Harris book has map of Alleghany, Monongahela, and Yohiogany Rivers, Plat of the part of the state of Ohio which is appropriated for Military Services, map of Marietta, and a plate of a bird's eye view of the ancient works of the Muskingum. (No Ohio map). (NP 7.23.26)
