Unusual Weimar Era Simson & Suhl Marked 1933 Police Rework Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol Rig with Matching Magazine and Matching Issue Numbered Holster Manufactured after the end of World War I and before the outbreak of World War II, Simson & Co was for a time the sole supplier of new-made Luger pistols to the Weimar government, with this particular example marked and configured as a police weapon. Fixed sights, with a blank chamber and the "SIMSON & CO. Suhl" address on the front toggle link. Overall proof markings are a mixture of "crown/N" commercial stamps, and Nazi-style "eagle/6" and "WaA66" proofs, with a cutout in the frame and grip for a magazine well safety (disabled, as is tradition, with a few components remaining), a takedown sear safety on the extension, and "L.Lg.134" stamped on the front strap, indicating issue to the Landjaegerei (rural constabulary police) of the Lueneburg district in Lower Saxony. The small parts are finished in straw and niter blue, with a pair of checkered grips. Both included magazines are nickel finished with matching numbered wood bases, which are also stamped "1" and "2". Included with the lot is a brown leather Gustav Reinhardt holster dated "1929" and bearing a matching police inventory number "L. Lg. 134" on the back and an unmarked blued steel takedown tool. Manufacturer: Simson & Company Model: Luger BBL: 4 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm parabellum Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 4674t Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Very fine as rework, with 80% of the Simson blue finish, showing a bright patina on the high edge, scattered handling marks and some light spotting. A few small parts appear to be renumbered replacements, with freshened numbers on the magazines and a chipped base on the #2 magazine. The grips are very fine as unnumbered, with some scuffs and flat spots. The holster is fair, with some replaced straps, deep scuffs and mild cracking. Mechanically excellent.
