Highly Attractive Walter T. Shannon Signed, Master Engraved, Nickel and Gold Plated Smith & Wesson Model 27-2 Double Action Revolver with Case Manufactured c. 1969-1972. It features extensive floral scroll pattern engraving with punch dot backgrounds with more than 75% coverage of the sides of the barrel, cylinder, and frame with the work signed "ENGRAVED BY SHANNON" on the left side of the rear grip strap under with wood line for Master Engraver Walter T. Shannon, with the nickel plate finish of the barrel, cylinder and frame contrasted with a gold plate finish on the ejector assembly, trigger, cylinder latch, and hammer. It has pinned Patridge blade front and adjustable notch rear sights on a checkered rib, the caliber designation retained on the right side of the barrel, the Smith & Wesson address and trade mark retained on the right side of the frame, and the model designation marked on the frame under the crane. Matching full serial numbers visible on the frame, on the rear of the cylinder under the ejector, and on the butt, along with matching "16888" assembly numbers on the grip frame and crane. Fitted with a pair of enlarged checkered rosewood grips with Smith & Wesson medallion inserts. Includes a hardwood presentation case fitted for the revolver with a brass plaque on the lid with a cattle brand and "RANCH" above the model nomenclature, containing a screwdriver and bore brush.

  • Condition: Exceptionally fine, retaining 98% nickel finish and 99% gold finish with extremely light cylinder drag lines and a few minor spots of oxidation on the frame, otherwise limited minor handling evidence, clear markings, and crisp engraving. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine as refinished with some minor storage wear.
