Eastern Europe, Russia, southeastern Magadan Region, Seymchan, ca. 1967 CE. A slice of the Seymchan pallasite meteorite composed primarily of iron with notable nickel content. This fragment consists of kamacite, an iron-nickel alloy containing approximately 84-85% iron and 13-14% nickel, a material found naturally only in meteorites. The surface displays a dense network of intersecting linear bands known as Widmanstatten patterns, formed through extremely slow cooling in space and visible here as etched crystalline structures across both faces. The irregular natural form retains areas of oxidation along fissures and edges, adding contrast to the metallic surface. Material from this meteorite was first recovered from the Yasachnaya River in 1967, with additional finds in 2004 from the same region. Size: 3.5" L x 2" W (8.9 cm x 5.1 cm); weight: 70 grams

Provenance: private Hagar collection, Wildwood, Missouri, USA
