Chapters include getting fit for the chase, learning to read tracks, advice on clothing and equipment, how to handle a rifle, and how to field dress and butcher your buck. (LANYARD) E. "LARRY" BENOIT (1924-2013) was a noted author of Deer Hunting books, naturalist, & expert tracker. Lanyard Benoit Obituary Born in East Berkshire, Vermont & married the former Iris M. Sweet in Stowe, Vermont. Larry attended schools in Montgomery and then at the age of 15 went to work with the Civilian Conservation Corps for two years. Following, Larry worked several years at the Eden Asbestos Mine before embarking on a long and successful career in construction. He became an internationally known deer hunter and outdoorsman, and was an author of several very successful hunting books, among them the classic work, "How to Bag the Biggest Buck of Your Life". He also spent over 25 years teaching seminars nationwide on the art and craft of deer hunting. Having personally bagged over 200 deer in his lifetime, Larry was recognized by Remington with the introduction of a special edition commemorative signature rifle, the first Vermonter to be bestowed that honor. He was so proficient at hunting deer that he got the title: "the Babe Ruth of deer hunters" in the hunting world. Since the age of 13, Larry was a craftsman of custom handmade hunting knives that have been purchased from around the world & are prized collector's items to this day. In 2012, he was inducted into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. His memberships included the Waterbury-Stowe Fish and Game Club and the Barre Fish and Game Club."
