Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century A.D. A necklace featuring an ancient Roman bronze coin set in a custom gold bezel. The coin is likely a follis from the Tetrarchy or early Constantinian period; the obverse shows a Roman emperor in profile wearing a laurel wreath, and the reverse depicts a standing figure, probably Genius, wearing a modius and chlamys over the left shoulder and holding a patera and cornucopia. The pendant is suspended from a strand of round rutilated quartz beads in translucent shades of clear, rose, black, and mossy green, finished with a 14K gold oval box clasp. Size of strand: 18" L (45.7 cm); coin pendant: 1" Diameter (2.5 cm); gold quality: 58% to 72% (equivalent to 14K to 17K+); weight: 50 grams

  • Condition: Chip to a bead but not very noticeable. Coin has patina and mineral deposits, with some softening to faces. Beads and gold setting are modern and strung in modern times and wearable.
