Qualifies for in-house shipping---Robert E. Sherwood (1896-1955) Amercan playwright and screenwriter, typed signed letter dated September 30, 1953, from Sherwood to Dr. Joseph T. Shipley, Director of the National Committee on Education in the Public Arts, the letter discusses a date for Sherwood and Shipley to meet at the Playwrights' Company office at 630 Fifth Avenue and also references the death of Barrett Clark, an influential editor, translator, and critic; 11" x 8 1/2"; light stain spot at left side of letter Sherwood was one of the original members of the Algonquin Round Table. In 1920, he became the editor of LIFE. He served as a speechwriter for President FDR and served as director of the Overseas Branch of the Office of War Information from 1943 until the end of WWII. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1936, 1939, and 1941, an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1947, and a Pulitzer Prize for Biography in 1949. (Inv. 25)
