Outstanding Mahogany R. J. Horner Partners Desk, fully carved all over with claw feet, drawers and pulls are fully carved, drawers on both sides. Beautiful condition, just outstanding all over with R. J. Horner & Co. Furniture Makers, NY label. This desk was owned by Cecil F. Elmes, who was Chicago Manager of Sanderson & Porter Engineers. He was involved in designing, constructing, managing, and financing public utilities and railways, and economic research in the early 1920's. He was also the nephew of William Burke Cochran, who was in the House of Representatives for over 20 years and started the Irish/American Historical Society. Cecil F. Elmes published many papers on legal matters, engineering and rate setting, he was both a lawyer and engineer. He also wrote fiction books under a pseudonym, a manuscript of which was found with his papers in the desk by his Great Grandnephew. This is a rare piece with tremendous historical value. Used by a man of stature in industry, this is a wonderful example of a RJ Horner partners desk. Comes with original keys! Measures approx. 60 inches long x 34 inches tall x 38 inches wide.

Please allow adequate time (up to 4 weeks) for shipping coordination and implementation after the auction. This auction is a multiple estate auction. Items will be released for shipment only after payment has been received and cleared by Tim's Inc. Auctions.

Items left with auctioneer, estate or auction house will be considered abandoned after 30 days if shipping arrangements have not been made. These items will become the property of Tim's Inc. Auctions at such time.

PICK UP:
Local Pick Up to be scheduled after the auction. This is a multi estates auction and items may be located at different locations. All items to be picked up by scheduled appointment. If you can not make your scheduled pick up, there will be a $100 for rescheduled pick up time. BUYER'S PREMIIUM:
A buyer' premium of 28% is added to the price knocked down by the Auctioneer for Online bidders. If you are the successful bidder on a lot at $100, your invoice will include a buyer's premium of $28 for a total of $128. Additional processing fees will apply. Sales tax is applied as directed by the state of Connecticut.
