Rinaldo A. Carr Inspected U.S. Contract Colt Single Action Cavalry Model Revolver Manufactured in 1891 as part of the final Army contract for 2,000 revolvers issued on September 19, 1890. This revolver was inspected by Captain Stanhope E. Blunt (SEB) and sub-inspected by Rinaldo A. Carr (RAC). The revolver has the Colt blue finish on the barrel, ejector housing, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap. The frame, hammer and loading gate are color casehardened. The one-piece walnut grip is oil finished. The revolver has the late oval ejector rod head introduced about serial number 113,000, and hammer with deeply cut, bordered knurling on the spur. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the Style IV ('Elongated Block Letter') address: "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the Third Type "three-date/two-line" patent marking utilized after serial number 134,300. The "U.S." property mark is stamped on the left side of the frame behind the patent dates. The full serial number "137632" is stamped on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The partial serial number "7632" is stamped on the barrel beneath the ejector housing and on the side of the cylinder. All of the visible serial numbers match. The inside of the loading gate is stamped with the assembly number "597". "P" proofmarks are stamped on the underside of the barrel and on the side of the cylinder. The small block-letter "R.A.C." sub-inspection marks is stamped: (1) on the underside of the barrel, (2) bottom of the frame above the serial number, (3) side of the cylinder and (4) left grip heel. The lower left side of the grip is stamped with the date "1891" above the script "SEB" final inspection mark. The lower right side of the grip is stamped with a script "RAC" sub-inspection mark. Colt "K" sub-inspection marks are stamped below the serial number on the trigger guard and back strap and below the ejector housing boss on the barrel.
