Post-Impressionist landscape depicting a sun-dappled Provencal countryside with a distant farmhouse and rolling hills receding under a luminous Sky. The work is signed "Bellias" lower right and it is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Gallery Art, Aventura, FL. Framed.

  • Provenance: ARTIST PROFILE: Richard Bellias (French, 1921–1974) was born in Paris and trained at the Academies Libres before studying under Othon Friesz at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiere and under sculptor Robert Wlerick at the Ecole des Arts Appliques. He studied at the Acadamies libres in Paris and was a student of Othon Friesz at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere and a student of the sculptor Robert Wlerick at the school of Arts Appliques. A pivotal encounter with painter Edouard Goerg in 1946 shaped his approach to color and technique, and his work went on to earn first prize at the Salon for Young Painters in both 1957 and 1959. In 1946 Bellias met Edouard Goerg a great influence on his knowledge of color and technique. In 1957 and 1959 he was awarded first prize at the Salon for young painters. He exhibited widely in Paris and abroad, including solo shows at the Monique de Roote Gallery (1951), Cardo Gallery (1956), and Jean-Claude Bellier Gallery (1960), and held memberships in the Salon d'Automne, the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon des Jeunes Peintres, the Ecole de Paris, and the Salon des Tuileries. Bellias had his own exhibitions in 1951 at the Monique de roote Gallery in Paris, the Cardo Gallery in 1956, Jean-Claude Bellier Gallery in 1960 and many others in France and abroad.
