[REVOLUTIONARY WAR]. The Battle of Yorktown and immediate aftermath as reported in The Independent Chronicle and the Universal Advertiser. Boston, MA: 22 November 1781.

The Independent Chronicle and the universal Advertiser. Vol. XIV, No. 691. Boston, MA. 4pp., folio, 9 1/2 x 14 3/4 in., containing extensive and detailed coverage of the American victory over the British Army at the Battle of Yorktown, the seminal battle of the Revolutionary War.

This issue contains an inside page printing of a letter sent by George Washington, with a long list of the officers and privates captured by the American forces at the Battle of Yorktown.

The Battle of Yorktown lasted from 28 September to 19 October 1781, ending in a decisive victory for the American Continental Army, led by General George Washington with support from the Marquis de Lafayette, and French Army troops led by the Comte de Rochambeau, along with a French naval force commanded by the Comte de Grasse. The British troops were commanded by Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis.

Yorktown was the last major land battle of the American Revolutionary War in North America, leading to the surrender of General Cornwallis and the capture of both him and his army. The Continental Army's victory at Yorktown prompted the British government to negotiate an end to the conflict.
