Reproduction of Mid-16th Century German/Swiss Style Basket Hilted Longsword This longsword was made, likely during the Victorian era, in a very similar style to South German and Swiss longswords of the mid-16th century. It has no visible maker's marks. The unsharpened blade is approximately 43 inches long with a center fuller that starts at the top of the guard and runs half the length of the blade with two decorative grooves on either side. The wire cupped-basket style guard has serpentine quillions with checkered acorn type finials. The two-handed grip appears to be carved hardwood finished black with a checkered scent stopper pommel. Overall length is approximately 60 inches.
