Scarce Factory Engraved Remington Model 10F Premier Grade Slide Action Shotgun with Extra Matching Number Barrel and Mutton Case According to consignor notes, Remington records have this shotgun as being manufactured in 1913. Features floral scroll engraving with punch dot background on the receiver, trigger guard and breech end of the barrel. The takedown ring has a simple floral design. The left side of the receiver also has two hunting dogs in a field scene and two snipes in a field scene. The right side has two quail in a field scene and two ducks in a marsh scene. There is a dogs head on the trigger guard. The top of the barrel at the breech amid the engraving is marked "MODEL 10F" followed by "REMINGTON ARMS - METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO./REMINGTON WORKS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A./PATENTED FEBRUARY 3, 1903 AND MAY 16 1905". The upper left rear of the barrel is engraved "CYL." The slide bar has a light vine design and "TRADE Remington MARK". The serial number is engraved at the front underside of the receiver in a banner and also engraved on the lower tang behind the trigger guard over "REMINGTON/UMC (in a circle)/TRADEMARK". The extra barrel is numbered to the gun, 30 inches in length, round, 12 gauge with the same markings and engraving, and engraved "FULL" on the upper left rear. Both barrels have 2 3/4 inch chambers and single bead sights. Blue finish and mounted with an extra fancy checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber Remington grip cap, vented Field Trail recoil pad and gold initial oval. Length of pull is 14 1/8 inches. Comes with a mutton case. The barrel currently on the shotgun retains 75% original blue with some scratches from disassembling and some normal handling wear. The magazine tube retains 30% thin original blue finish mixed with smooth mottled gray patina. The receiver retains 40% original blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance. There is a smooth gray patina on the trigger guard. The extra barrel retains 75% original finish with some finish loss on the underside and normal handling wear. The forearm is very good with some minor handling marks and distinct checkering. The stock remains good with heavy checkering wear, a chip absent on the grip cap, replacement pad, and some scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings and engraving are clear. The action is fine. The case is good with exterior scuffs and scratches and tight stitching.
