Rare and Desirable Westley Richards Gold Name "The Explora" 1897 Patent Hand Detachable Lock (Drop Lock) Box Lock Ejector Rifle Choked Shotgun Blacked barrels with sunken concave rib, bead front sight and raised quarter rib engraved with scrollwork on the ramp and doll's head extension, signed "THE EXPLORA" and with express rear sight of five folding leaves graduated from "100 YDS" to "300 YDS". Casehardened box lock action with scalloped back, signed "WESTLEY RICHARDS" in gold on each side, engraved "WESTLEY RICHARDS EJECTOR" above the blued top lever, and blued automatic safety with gold inlaid "SAFE". Blued detachable floor plate and engine turned locks respectively inlaid with a gold "R" and "L". Casehardened trigger plate, double triggers and blued trigger guard. Figured 15 1/2 inch stock including 5/8 inch rubber recoil pad with checkered grip and forearm, the last with dark horn tip. Weight: 7 lbs. 6 oz., barrel dimensions: right proved at 12, measuring .736, minimum wall thickness 25; left proved at 12, measuring .737, minimum wall thickness 25, 2 1/2 inch chambers, Birmingham nitro proofmarks, 730 grs bullet. The manufacturer confirmed that this rifle choked shotgun was completed in May 1907 for M. Fleisehmann Esq.
