Rare "Orchestre et Picolo" Musical Box with Reed and Pipe Organ, c. 1880
No. 3128, playing eight mainly operatic airs accompanied by six optional bells with bird bell-strikers, drum and castanet, with central 27-note organ section playing on seventeen reeds and ten pipes, four combs of 59 musical and 18 percussion teeth (all complete), "longue-marche" double-springs, compensated governor, tune-sheet, two-part inner lid with sound frets and glazed scene of Lake Geneva, in substantial rosewood-veneered case with ormolu handles and inlay of musical trophies on front and lid, wd. 27 ½ in. (69 cm) x dp. 17 in. (43 cm), cylinder 16 in. (41 cm), approx. four tips near-invisibly replaced. Superb restored playing condition. – Program: "Faust, Marche et Choeur" by Gounod, "Don Pasquale, Sérénade" by Donizetti, two airs from "La Grande Duchesse" by Offenbach, "Martha, Chor: Jägerinnen" by Flotow, "Il Trovatore, Coro: Squilli" by Verdi, "Orphée aux Enfers, Couplets et du Roi de Béotie" by Offenbach and "Walzer N. 5, Die Grafenberger" by Gung'l. – This rare musical format employs organ reeds and pipes in an harmonious interplay of bass and piccolo notes with a full-orchestral accompaniment. The tune-sheet design was used by Louis Auguste Grosclaude, Ducommun-Girod and Samuel Troll. – Literature: Bulleid, "Musical Box Tune Sheets", pp. 34, 46 and 101. – A musical box of museum and exhibition quality.

Nr. 3128, mit 8 vornehmlich Opernmelodien, begleitet von 6 abschaltbaren Glocken mit kleinen Vögeln als Schläger, Trommel und Kastagnette, zentral angeordnete Orgel mit 17 Zungenstimmen und 10 Pfeifen, 4 Stahlkämme mit 59 Tönen und 18 Zähne für die Begleitinstrumente (alle komplett), langlaufender Doppelfederwerk-Motor, Original-Melodienblatt, zweiteiliger Innendeckel mit Schallöffnung und verglastem Bild des Genfer Sees, zumeist mit Rosenholz furniertes Gehäuse, seitliche Griffe aus Bronzeguß, Front und Deckel mit musikalischen Intarsien, Breite 69 cm, Tiefe 43 cm, Walzenbreite 41 cm, ca. 4 Spitzen unsichtbar repariert.
