Rare Early 1934 Oberndorf Mauser/DWM Police Luger This is a very nice example of a Mauser Oberndorf Nazi Luger pistol. This Luger model has a mix of both left over parts from the DWM factory and new production Mauser parts that were assembled to fulfill some early 1930s small contracts for commercial sales and some early Nazi Police and Army contracts. On page 350 of the new book "The Mauser Parabellum" by Hallock/Van De Kant, they identify a small block of 90 Lugers as the first block of pistols issued to the early Nazi Police in the serial number range of 33v-1332v which they termed 1934 Oberndorf Models. This example falls into the end of that block. The front toggle still retains the old "DWM" markings, and the left side of the barrel extension, the underside of the barrel and left side of the breechblock are stamped with a slightly larger more stylized "Crown/U" proof with no other proof marks on the pistol. However, it still retains the sear bar over the side plate. It has a commercial style serial number placement with the full serial number on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel and only the side plate, trigger, sear bar, takedown lever and firing pin numbered. It is accompanied by one wood base magazine that is numbered "1045/II" on the base. Manufacturer: Mauser Model: 1934 BBL: 3 7/8 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm Luger Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 1045v Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Near excellent with 95% of the blued finish overall with edge and high spot wear with some thinning and faint touch up on the grip straps. The various small parts retain 20% of their straw colors overall with the trigger having been restrawed. The grips are in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides showing only minor handling marks.
