Rare Pedersen device magazine for the MKII Pedersen device produced to convert Model 1917 rifles into semi-automatic rifles which fired a short, under powered 30 caliber cartridge. Accompanied by a scarce Rock Island Arsenal canvas magazine pouch with slots for 6 magazines, marked on the outside "R.I.A. / 9-19". Also accompanied by 2 reproduction Pedersen device tools. The Pedersen device was developed late in WWI but design and production delays slowed delivery until just at the end of the war and the device was never issued to combat troops. About 125,000 Pedersen devices were ordered but only about 65,000 were produced before the war ended., few survive today. This magazine does not have the load markings by the holes on front of the magazines. Once the war was over all the Pedersen devices were supposedly placed in storage and eventually destroyed as were the magazines. Over the years a few devices have surfaced but spare magazines have been incredibly rare. CONDITION: Magazine is extremely fine showing only light high point wear and retaining most of its greenish phosphate finish. Magazine pouch is crisp & new. Reproduction tools are also new. 51685-5 JRL
