Hand-colored photograpy goes back as early as the 1830's. Most may be aware of the art through the artist Wallace Nutting, who produced a prodigous amount of pieces (often, using photographs taken by himself). This is a tremendous piece, a hand-colored photograph of the Piazza San Marco, in Venice, Italy, encased in a very complemtary frame. There's no signature on it, and estimates by myself, and a few others, place this from Early Century, to, perhaps, the 1930's
