PETER LAZAROV (Bulgarian, 1958-) "Odysseus and Nausikaa" 1994 - Wood engraving on paper. Signed lower centre, dated verso, titled verso. 5 x 4.75 inches (image), 6.5 x 6 inches (paper). Excellent condition. Created as an ex libris bookplate for Peter van Der Weerdt.

  • Notes: Peter Lazarov was born in 1958 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. He studied with Ivan Marinov at the University of Veliko Tarnovo, graduating in 1980 with a degree in printmaking. He lived in the Netherlands for a time before teaching printmaking in Chongqing, China from 2011 to 2019. In 2021 Lazarov returned to Bulgaria where he continues to work as an artist and master printmaker, using wood engraving, woodcuts, and lithography, sometimes combined into one print. He has been a member of the British Society of Wood Engravers and the Union of Bulgarian Artists. His work has been widely exhibited and can be found in the permanent collection of the Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam), Meermanno Museum (The Hague), Victoria and Albert Museum (London), Ashmolean Museum (Oxford) Library of Congress (Washington), Yale University (New Haven), Sakima Museum of Art (Okinawa), Tama University of the Arts (Tokyo), University of British Columbia (Vancouver) and University of Toronto, and Plantin-Muretus Museum (Antwerp).

Saskatchewan Network for Art Collecting can provide purchasers with several options for packing and shipping throughout Canada, the US and internationally. All packing and shipping is done at the expense of the purchaser. If you are the successful bidder on one or more lots, you will receive an email directly from the auction house within 48 hours. Please then contact us to discuss your packing, shipping and pick-up preferences (and we can remove artworks from framing in order to ship without frame and glass). All artworks are located in Regina, Saskatchewan and are available for pick-up. Also, we are currently offering free delivery in Regina on invoices over $200, and occasional delivery trips are made to Saskatoon to hand-deliver to Saskatoon home addresses for a small fee when there is sufficient demand. We can pack and ship throughout Canada and internationally, or can deliver your artworks to a recognized international shipper for them to pack and ship via their direct communications with you. For US buyers, note that all Canadian and US artworks have been proceeding as tariff exempt under the terms of the Canada-US-Mexico Free Trade Agreement, but the situation can change. Artworks with a country of origin other than Canada, US or Mexico are more likely to have a tariff fee added by US Customs.
