Period German Copy of a Colt Brevete Model 1851 Navy Revolver This revolver features notch hammer nose rear sight, heavy crown barrel with a raised blade front sight and percussion shield cut-out without a capping groove. The three left entering frame screws are numbered "6", "7" and "0" with corresponding numbers marked on the frame. A similar numbering feature is found on the back strap and trigger guard screws with all numbers matching. "83" is marked on the hammer channel with matching number marked on the rear of the non-engraved cylinder. The bottom barrel flat is stamped with two imperial eagle proofmarks, and the top flat is unmarked. There is a proofmark on the left recoil shield, possibly an imperial eagle. There is no wedge screw. The barrel and loading lever were blue with casehardened cylinder, frame, knurled hammer, extra fancy iron sculpted trigger guard and iron back strap with a thick top curve. Fitted with fancy checkered one piece grip. A very impressive copy of the Colt Model 1851. The right side, the underside and top of the barrel retains 60% of the high polished blue finish with light edge wear and some minor handling marks and the left side of the barrel exhibits a smooth brown patina. The loading lever retains slight traces of blue in the protected areas mixed with a smooth gray patina. The revolver retains slight traces of vivid case color mixed with a smooth gray and sliver patina. The grips are good to very good with some minor scratches and pressure dents and very light varnish wear. There are a few small nicks and gouges in the overall sharp checkering.
