Second Model Derringer Only 200 National Arms Co. Second Model derringers were produced with short two inch barrels between 1865 and 1870. The consignor's notes indicate that there are less than half a dozen known pairs. They are only two serial numbers apart (7055 and 7057) and feature matching factory scroll engraving, checkered walnut grips, less common iron frames, and rare 2 inch barrels marked with "NATIONAL ARMS Co. BROOKLYN, NY". The serial numbers are marked on the bottom of the barrels and the grips and rear straps are marked "BB 55" on A and "BB 57" on B. Both have round blade front sights, no extractors, and hammer groove rear sights. Manufacturer: National Arms Co Model: 2 BBL: 2 inch irregular Stock: Gauge: 41 RF Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 7055 Class: Antique Condition: Very good. The barrel has 30% of the faded blue finish, and the frame has a gray patina with some light spotting. The refinished grips are very good with crisp checkering, thick glossy varnish, and some minor handling wear. It is mechanically fine with clear markings. B) National Arms Co. Second Model Derringer As described in A. "KM 581" (Karl Moldenaur) collection number in white paint present on butt. Manufacturer: National Arms Co Model: 2 BBL: 2 inch irregular Stock: Gauge: 41 RF Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 7057 Class: Antique Condition: Very good. The barrel retains 25% of the original blue finish while the frame displays a gray patina. The refinished grips are very good with (matching) thick glossy varnish, crisp checkering, and mild handling wear. The action is fine, and the markings are crisp.
