Central Asia, Persia, ca. 1890–1950 CE. A pair of Persian brass lamp bases with etched floral and foliate motifs and remnants of painted enamel accents in white and red. Each has a hollow shaft, a wiring hole at the edge of the base, and a threaded bolt at the top for a bulb socket, indicating they were made or adapted for electric lighting. The engraved decoration is arranged in banded registers over baluster-form bodies with domed circular feet. Size: 6" Diameter x 16.5" H (15.2 cm D x 41.9 cm H).

From the collection of Eugene Rotberg (1930-2025), longtime vice president and treasurer of the World Bank, noted collector of Asian art, and a figure widely regarded as one of the most influential in international finance of the late 20th century.
