Hemmann of Bern -A) Hemmann Percussion Pistol This pair of attractive traveling pistols was produced by Johann Jakob Hemmann of Bern, Switzerland, in the 1830s. They have attractive Damascus barrels with dovetailed blade front sights and "T. Hemmann in Bern" in script on top, notch rear sights and "1" and "2" on the breeches, engraved furniture, checkered walnut stocks, and wooden ramrods with button tips. Manufacturer: Swiss Model: Percussion BBL: 3 7/8 inch octagon Stock: walnut Gauge: 48 Finish: brown/casehardened Grips: Serial Number: NSN Class: Antique Condition: Fine. The barrel retains strong Damascus patterns, and the metal throughout has traces of faded original finish, aged gray and brown patina, and some light spotting. The stock is also fine and has some attractive figure, crisp checkering, and scattered minor marks. Mechanically fine, and the markings and engraving patterns are crisp. There are remnants of faded original finish, attractive Damascus stripe patterns, aged gray and brown patina, and some minor spotting on the metal. The stock is very good and has crisp checkering, minor marks and scratches, and a small repair on the left side of the forend. Mechanically fine, and the markings are crisp throughout.
