Cased Pair of Engraved Colt Third Model Derringers with Pearl Grips -A) Colt Third Model Derringer Cased Pair of Engraved Colt Third Model Derringers with Pearl Grips -A) Colt Third Model Derringer The Third Model Derringers were manufactured between 1870 and 1912. They were nearly three times more popular than the First and Second Model Derringers also produced during part of the same period. This pair has attractive American scrollwork and punch dot engraving. The patterns are similar to the Cuno Helfricht engraved pair on page 401 of the "The Colt Engraving Book Volume 1" by R. L. Wilson. This pair has pearl grips, standard sights and markings, sloping hammers, and "G" markings on the bottom of the barrels and left side of the grip frames. The pair is contained in a hardwood case with French fitted relined interior and an unopened box of Remington-UMC .41 Short Rimfire ammunition. There is a few small patches of minor pitting on the barrel. The grips are very good with some slight chips at the edges and mild handling wear. The action is mechanically fine, and the engraving and markings are crisp. B) Engraved Colt Third Model Derringer See A. Manufacturer: Colt Model: #3 Derringer BBL: 2 1/2 inch round Stock: Gauge: 41 RF Finish: nickel Grips: mother of pearl Serial Number: 22069 Class: Antique Condition: Very fine as replated. 95% plus of the nickel plating remains. There is some minor fading on the lower sections and some slight pitting on the barrel. The grips are very good and have mild handling wear, including some small scratches and dings. The relined case is very fine and has only minor storage wear. The relined interior is fine and has minor fading and compression marks.
