Pair of Colt Bisley Model Single Action Army Revolvers with Highly Attractive Bohlin Steer Head Mounted and Engraved Silver Grips and Desirable Bohlin Marked Holster Rig -A) Colt Bisley Model Single Action Army Revolver Pair of Colt Bisley Model Single Action Army Revolvers with Highly Attractive Bohlin Steer Head Mounted and Engraved Silver Grips and Desirable Bohlin Marked Holster Rig -A) Colt Bisley Model Single Action Army Revolver Manufactured in 1901 (215063) and 1907 (288747) this pair of attractive Colt Bisley Model revolvers appears to have been subsequently set up for some sort of flashy exhibition shooting, television, movies, or other showmanship. While the Bisley was developed with competition shooters in mind, this variant of the legendary Single Action Army revolver also found widespread popularity among exhibition and trick shooters, cowboys, lawmen, and outlaws, particularly in the American West. The Edward Bohlin grips on these revolvers and the Bohlin holster rig are strong indicators that their intended purpose may have been for film, as Bohlin was one of the most prolific suppliers for television and movie Westerns. The "LR" initials on these grips certainly hint at some association with the Lone Ranger, who is known to have worn very similar holster rigs on screen. Though this pair were produced six years apart, they have every appearance of having been paired together for quite some time. The reason for the two revolvers being in different calibers is unknown, though they may have been intended for gun twirling exhibitions or different types of shooting. Both of the barrels are marked with the two-line address on top and the Bisley and caliber markings on the left. Both are marked with the two-line patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt on the left of the frames. They both have matching visible serial numbers. The revolvers are fitted with standard sights, and both sport a pair of period-fitted, highly attractive, silver grips with near full coverage floral scroll engraving, and one of the panels on each revolver having 12K gold mounted "LR" initials and steer heads which are fitted with red gemstone eyes. The interior of the grip panels bear the Bohlin maker's mark, "12-K", and "STERLING". Includes an ornate black tooled leather Edward H. Bohlin, Hollywood, California, dual holster and gun belt rig featuring a single row of cartridge loops fitted with silver Bohlin marked dummy cartridges and fitted with silver buckles and mounts. The belt is approximately 3 1/2 inches wide and measures approximately 47 1/2 inches long including the billet.
