Outstanding Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine This is an excellent example of a late production Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine that was manufactured in 1924. This late production carbine has a full blue finish with oil-finished straight grain walnut stock and forearm. The round barrel has a standard pattern steel block mounted front sight and folding leaf rear sight. The full length magazine is secured by the upper retaining band used on .32 and .25 caliber carbines and a screw-fastened lower band. A staple-mounted saddle ring is located on the left side of the receiver. The left side of the barrel is roll stamped with the late style legend "-MODEL 92- WINCHESTER-32 W.C.F.-/-TRADE MARK-" in two lines below the rear sight. Oval Winchester "W/P" proof marks are stamped on the top of the barrel and receiver. The serial number, "945435", is stamped on the bottom of the receiver reading from left to right. The upper receiver tang is roll stamped "MODEL 92/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG. U.S PAT. OFF & FGN." in three lines. Winchester manufactured over a million Model 1892 carbines, rifles and muskets before production ceased in 1941. However, Winchester Model 1892 Carbines were working guns; examples in excellent original condition are very hard to find. Manufacturer: Winchester Model: 1892 BBL: 20 inch round Stock: walnut Gauge: 32 WCF Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: 945435 Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun Condition: Excellent. The carbine retains 98% plus of the original blue finish. Wear is limited to some minor finish loss on the upper retaining band, lower barrel and bottom of the lever. The left side of the receiver shows only minor scuff marks from contact with the saddle ring. The barrel and receiver markings are crisp. The stock and forearm are in excellent plus condition with nearly all of the oil finish. This is an outstanding example of a post-WWI production Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine.
