Scarce New Orleans Attributed Push Dagger with Sheath Measuring 6 inches overall, this push knife is fitted with a 3 1/4 inch long double edged spear point blade, with a thin round ricasso/tang. The handle is smooth one-piece rosewood, lightly contoured with the tang visible through the back and secured with a German silver spanner nut, next to a stamped number "8". The sheath is of brown leather construction with German silver fittings, a gilt brass tip, and a round button stud. Attributed by the consignor to New Orleans. The very fine blade is polished bright with a mixed gray patina on the shank, showing some light spotting, handling marks and a small amount of pitting. The grip is very good, with one or two superficial cracks on the back and minor handling marks. The sheath is good, with some flaking of the leather and dark spots on the fittings.
