Published by the McKearins as a product of the Boston and Sandwich Glass Works, and, in 1954, by the distinguished scholar/dealer James H. Rose as "New England [area], c. 1840-50," the dealer Albert C. Revi corrected the record a decade later when he discovered the papers for the patent for the design of this candlestick that was issued to Henry Whitney for the New England Glass Works, Cambridge, Massachusetts, on May 10, 1870. The candlestick was made in clear, opalescent, and various other colors, and is extremely rare in any color.
