Unique Mexico Shipped Signed Engraved First Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter Manufactured in 1903 and subsequently engraved and silver plated. This revolver features floral and punch dot designs on the barrel, frame, ejector rod housing cylinder flats, trigger guard and back strap. There is a feather design on the underside of the barrel, a scallop border on the top edge of the ejector rod housing, trigger guard plate and around the patent date marking. There is a shield design with scallop bordering on the top of the back strap. The front of the frame has a star burst over the engraver's signature "BJ" (Bill Jones). The top of the barrel is marked with the one-line address, the left side is marked "38 W.C.F.", and the two-line/three-patent date marking is on the left side of the frame followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The loading gate is numbered "5535". Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, all silver finish and fitted with a one-piece stag grip with gold Mexican Eagle medallions. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, and 5 1/2 inch barrel and that it originally had a blue finish and grips as "Not Listed" when it was shipped as 1 of 2 to an individual Juan A. Kipp, (history unknown) in Guadalajara, Mexico on September 30, 1903. Some areas are beginning to darken with age and there is some flaking on the front edge of the cylinder and some very minor blistering on the grip straps. The grips are fine. The markings and engraving remain clear. The action is excellent.
