Printed on metal by Levin Epstein press.Rare item of the "Kofer HaYishuv."The Kofer HaYishuv was the name given to a fundraising tax for security purposes initiated by the Vaad HaLeumi in the summer of 1938 following the pogroms of 1936-39. The goal of the campaign was to create a central communal fund. As part of the battle against the Arab rioters it was necessary to charge a "donation" from the urban areas in order to pay for security in the settlements. The money was used to fund "notrim," the police force of the Jewish villages, the northern fence, the establishment of the Choma and Migdal settlements, the establishment of the Palmach and the field troops of the Hagana. This plate was apparently used by one of the tax collectors.6x9 cm. Stains. Fine condition.
