Desirable World War II 41 Dated Mauser Banner Code "Ku" Krieghoff Rework P.08 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol This is a late WWII Mauser production "Ku" marked P.08 Luger. This series of Luger was a late-war assembly after normal Luger production had stopped and is theorized that the parts were manufactured by Mauser and then assembled/finished by the Krieghoff factory in late 1944/45. It is estimated that a total quantity of 5,000 were manufactured. This unusual variation has an earlier "Mauser Banner" code marked toggle, typically seen on early commercial and Police Lugers. The chamber area is stamped "41" for year of manufacture with, the noted Mauser Banner marked toggle. There is a small "Ku" marking on the front edge of the right side of the barrel extension in front of the serial number. This typically indicates it was a late 1944 contract for the Luftwaffe assembled by Krieghoff with the noted out of tolerance or left over parts from the Mauser factory. This is a fairly scarce pistol as few have been observed with the earlier Mauser Banner marked toggle assembly intermixed with the regular production examples. This example has Mauser factory parts with no German Army proofs, and only has a single very faint late war Luftwaffe "LZA" proof on the right side of the barrel extension, left side of the barrel and breechblock, with no other proofs. It is fitted with a set of matching checkered walnut grips, stamped on each grip with the large serial number, "3587". It comes with a late-war "fxo/P08" marked magazine with the black plastic base. The side of the magazine has been etched with serial number "3264". It has matching numbers except the rear toggle and barrel, both of which are unnumbered and the magazine as noted. Manufacturer: Mauser Model: P08 BBL: 4 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm Luger Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 3587 Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Excellent with 95% of the original blue finish overall showing light wear on the edges and high spots overall with blue loss on the side plate hump, front of the frame rails and muzzle area, mixed with some light oxidation/browning on the lower areas of the grip straps. The grips are in very fine condition with distinct checkering on both sides showing light wear on the left side with some light pressure dents and on the right side. A scarce late-war Krieghoff assembled Luger pistol.
