Mauser "G" Date, "S/42" Code Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol Rig with Extra Magazine This is an example of a pre-WWII German Nazi Luger pistol that was manufactured by Mauser in 1935. While the Germans were still paying lip service to the Treaty of Versailles, 1935 was the second year of renewed Luger production, as the Nazis already had designs on Lebensraum in Eastern Europe and payback against the French. Fixed sights, with the "G" date mark on the chamber, "S/42" on the front toggle link, "eagle/63" on the extension and barrel, and "stick wing eagle" firing proofs on the extension, barrel and breechblock. Straw colored small parts, nitre blue springs, pins and screws, checkered grips and a blued magazine with aluminum base. Minus the magazine, the external numbers are matching. With an extra nickel/alloy magazine, an unmarked blued steel takedown tool, and black leather holster, dated 1918 with a faint Berlin makers mark and "Schupo Dz 24" branded inside the flap, suggesting issue to the Schutzpolizei (uniformed police) of Danzig. Manufacturer: Mauser Model: P08 BBL: 4 inch round Stock: Gauge: 9 mm Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 4459f Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Very good, with 70% of the blued finish, showing areas of brown patina, bright edge wear, and scattered handling marks. Some of the small components to include the side plate are refinished/restamped to match the pistol. Bright straw color is present on the trigger, takedown lever and extractor, and bright niter blue on the pins. The grips are very good, with some chips and minor dings. The holster is fair as repaired, with a replaced retention strap arrangement and other possible replaced components, showing scuffs and cracks overall. Mechanically fine.
