Desirable Late World War II Nazi/Mauser K98 High Turret Bolt Action Sniper Rifle with Hensoldt Scope This is a very fine example of a WWII German high turret sniper rifle that was manufactured by the Mauser factory circa late 1944/45. It was fitted with a 4x power sniper scope that was manufactured by the Hensoldt company. The turret mounted rifles were one of the best, but most costly WWII German sniper rifles that were in service from 1939 to the end of 1945. The top of the receiver ring is covered by the front turret, and there are no receiver side wall "Mod 98" markings. The right side of the receiver and left rear section of the barrel are both stamped with a single "Eagle/135" Waffenamt acceptance proof, and the left rear side of the barrel and receiver ring are also both stamped with a single Nazi Eagle firing proof. The rifle is serial numbered "27847" on the left rear side of the barrel and receiver ring, with the rest of the markings covered by the front turret base. The rifle is fitted with all stamped trigger guard/floor plate and barrel bands and a correct matching phosphated bolt assembly. The rifle is fitted with a blue sniper scope with objective and ocular ends of the scope having been painted black. The left side of the scope tube is roll marked, "DIALYTAN 4X 74503/bmj", and the front ring is numbered "52927". The range dial is properly marked 1-8 (100-800 meters). The rifle has the standard inverted "v" front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters. The rifle bolt has a standard 98K safety lever. The rifle is fitted with a laminated stock and handguard with a checkered cupped buttplate. The stock is unnumbered and unproofed but shows a small letter "c" on the underside in front of the buttplate. It is complete with a reproduction brown leather sling. Manufacturer: Mauser Model: 98K-Rifle BBL: 24 inch round Stock: laminated Gauge: 7.92 mm Mauser Finish: blue/phosphate Grips: Serial Number: 27847 Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun Condition: Very fine with 85% of the combination blue/phosphate finish overall with edge and high spot wear. The front and rear bases has some solder residue around the edges of the bases with the rear base having browned out/rusted slightly. The stock and handguards are both in very fine plus condition with a nice dark brown matching color overall showing minor light scratches and handling marks on the sides. The scope is in very fine condition with 90% of the blue finish remaining overall with 60% of the black painted finish on the ends. Mechanically excellent. The optics are viewable, but a little hazy with an complete reticle.
