Desirable Early DWM/Mauser American Eagle Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Rare A. F. Stoeger Markings This is a desirable example of a pre-war DWM Stoeger import Luger pistol. These were produced in the 1932-1934 time frame using both left over parts from the earlier DWM manufacturing combined with new manufactured Mauser parts after production was moved to the Mauser factory in 1934. These specific Lugers all fall into a specific serial number block all numbered with a "v" suffix and are considered as very rare early commercial Luger pistols. It has the "American Eagle" chamber marking with a "DWM" marked toggle. The right side of the barrel extension is marked "A.F. STOEGER INC/NEW YORK.", and the right side frame rail is marked "GENUINE LUGER - REGISTERED U.S. PATENT OFFICE." The extractor is still marked "GELADEN", and the upper rear areas of the frame are correctly marked "SAFE". The left side frame rail is stamped with a "Crown/B" and "U" commercial proofs and barrel extension and breechblock are stamped with a "Crown/N proof". (This is odd in that the "B" and "U" proofs are usually pre-1913; cannot give explanation!) The underside of the barrel is unproofed and unnumbered. The parts are numbered in the commercial manner with the full serial number (421v) on the front of the frame with the last two digits of the serial number on a few of the smaller parts with the majority of the parts being unnumbered, which would be correct for this early commercial luger. It has unnumbered checkered wood grips. This rare pistol with one wood base magazine that is stamped "9157/+" on the base. Manufacturer: Mauser Model: 1934 BBL: 4 inch round Stock: Gauge: 7.65 mm Luger Auto Finish: blue Grips: walnut checkered Serial Number: 421v Class: Curio & Relic Handgun Condition: Very fine as reworked by Stoeger with 95% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear overall with the smaller parts retaining 70% of their straw colors fading overall, with more color in the protected areas. The grips are very fine with nice distinct checkering overall showing some minor handling marks on the left side and a slightly heavier pressure dent on the very front edge by the magazine release. The only noted issue is that the takedown lever is missing the small retention spring inside the frame.
