John Martz Custom Luger Semi-Automatic Carbine with Stock, Extra Magazine and Case Customized in California by John Martz, this Luger pistol has been upgraded to match the configuration of the Luger Carbine, with the addition of the Martz Safe Toggle Release, an automatic hold-open release integrated into the safety. Blade front and 3-position notch rear sights on the barrel, with an unproofed "blank chamber" extension, "DWM" toggle and "GESICHERT" safety marking. The frame is fitted with a numbered steel extension, marked "MSTR" on the left rail and "JVM" and "30" in ovals beneath the side plate. The forearm, grips and buttstock are all made from checkered fancy walnut, the former with a Schnabel tip and the latter with a blued steel mounting iron and a serrated black horn buttplate. Two gray steel magazines are included, marked "1/JVM" and "2/JVM" on the fine walnut bases. All items mentioned so far fit into a custom brown leather covered "luggage" case, made in the style of the original Luger Carbine case, with a French-cut interior and a pair of buckling retention straps.
