Fine Special Order Marlin Model 1881 Lever Action Rifle with Double Set Triggers Manufactured from 1881 to 1892. This rifle features the two-line address/patent date marking ending with "RE-ISSUE NOV. 9. 1880" ahead of the rear sight and "40 CAL" at the breech. Fitted with a German silver blade front sight (replacement) and elevation adjustable rear sight. The action has double set triggers. Mounted on a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a smooth buttplate. Manufacturer: Marlin Firearms Co Model: 1881 BBL: 28 inch octagon Stock: walnut Gauge: 40-60 Marlin Finish: blue Grips: Serial Number: 18730 Class: Antique Condition: Fine. The rifle retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. Traces of silvered out original case colors remain on the lever, and traces of muted original case colors remain on the hammer. The wood is very good showing a repaired chip near the buttplate heel, a repaired wrist and some minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
