  • Notes: Mario Merola was born in Montreal in 1931. After studies in Montreal and Paris, he joined the faculty of l'Ecole des Beaux-arts de Montreal and later l'Universite du Quebec a Montreal. While largely considered an abstract artist Merola says "It is not necessarily abstract what I do. I do not pose any limitations. I do not plan for figures but sometimes they do appear." Mario Merola is a member of the Royal Academy of the Arts.
