Factory Alfonse Marechal Signed and Engraved Belgian Browning 20 Gauge Diana Grade Superposed Skeet Shotgun Manufactured in 1965. Built with blued Special Steel barrels featuring a single bead sight on the matted flat vent rib, light engraving at the upper breech, chokes marked "**$"/"**$" (skeet/skeet), and chambers marked 3 inches with ejectors. The barrels are fitted to the French grey finished action which is engraved in the Diana Grade pattern with flowing scroll designs surrounding four game scenes depicting a flock of mallards in a marsh on the right, a nide of pheasants in a wooded scene on the left, a pair of quail on the underside, and a pair of rabbits on the trigger guard bow, all in fine detail with matted backgrounds giving dimension. The engraving is signed "A.MARECHAL" on both sides beneath the scenes for FN engraver Alfonse Marechal. The gun features a single gold trigger and tang mounted safety/selector with gold "S", "O", and "U" indicators. The gun is fitted with an attractive well-figured and multi-point checkered Lightning forend with engraved iron as well as a long tang round knob pistol grip stock with a factory buttplate. Includes a later Browning takedown case. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both .622 inches; choke constriction .004/.005 inches; minimum wall thickness .034/.035 inches; 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 5/16 inch drop at heel; 14 5/16 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs. 1 oz.

  • Condition: Very fine overall, retaining 97% plus original blue and French grey finishes with light handling evidence, slightly loose rib near the breech, some gold loss on the trigger, some light dings and scratches on the wood, and crisp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. The case is excellent.
