Condition / Notes: This is a scarce two-volumes-in-one edition of this work.

This antique volume is bound in dark green cloth with stamped gilt lettering to the spine and blind-stamped ornamental designs to the front and rear covers. A pictorial design stamped in gold depicting a native warrior appears at the bottom of the spine. The book shows moderate external wear, with light soiling to the covers and minor loss at the head of the spine. The binding is firm. The volume has yellow endpapers. A contemporary signature appears at the top of the title page. The pages exhibit scattered foxing. This work has a frontispiece and a number of plates offering portrayals of life and culture in Africa.
