SN 306241. Cal. 9mm. Beautiful, limited production factory blue engraved P38, made in 1968, with black plastic grips in blue leatherette presentation case with spare magazine. Standard configuration P38 with 5" bbl, drift adjustable front sight and thick rear sight. Left side of pistol marked with Walther banner followed by usual 2-line legend that includes the model and Cal. The right side of the slide has no markings. Full SN is on the left side of the frame with "MADE IN WEST-GERMANY" on the right side of the frame. Lavish oak leaf and acorn engraving covers the entire slide around the usual markings. Complimentary engraving is over the chamber and extends to each side of the frame and under the trigger guard. Cross-hatched checkering on top of the slide coverplate, on the front strap, and on the floorplate of the primary and spare magazine. All metal surfaces are blued with standard black grips. Pistol and spare mag in blue leatherette presentation case. Lid lined in silk with silver Walther banner. Base lined in velvet with corded border. Two spring loaded non-keyed latches. A great post-war factory engraved P38 in its presentation case! PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Near factory new with no discernible wear on the pistol and only a few minor scuffs on the grip. Spare magazine has light oxidative speckling on the right side. No such disturbance on the base. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. Very good case with a large scuff on the lid that removed some of the surface to expose the underlying fabric. Minor staining and losses of the silk lid liner and base velvet, especially in areas of high point contact. Small segment of cord is loose. 51568-47 LMA C&R
