Fine U.S. Colt Artillery Model Single Action Army Revolver This revolver was originally manufactured in 1887 as a David F. Clark inspected U.S. issued Cavalry Model with a 7 1/2 inch barrel, and was later refurbished by Colt and fitted with a 5 1/2 inch barrel as an Artillery Model. The barrel has the one-line Colt Hartford address on top. The frame has the three-line patent date markings on the left followed by "U.S". David F. Clark's "D.F.C" inspection initials are marked above the serial number on bottom of the frame. Orville W. Ainsworth's "A" inspection initial is located on the bottom of the barrel. Henry Nettleton's "HN" inspection initials are marked on the cylinder. Rinaldo A. Carr's "R.A.C" inspection initials are located the butts of the grip. A bordered script "RAC" cartouche is stamped on the right side of the grip. The serial number "121114" is marked on the frame, "5400" on the barrel, "138816" on the trigger guard and back strap, and "7281" on the cylinder. Mismatching numbers are a common occurrence on these Artillery Model revolvers. Assembly number "1160" on the loading gate.
